POSITION SUMMARY

The counselor/social worker will deliver therapeutic interventions and consultations to students and their families, offering individual, group, and family therapy, as well as crisis intervention as required.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Deliver clinical services to individuals within the assigned caseload.
  • Facilitate daily social-emotional group sessions.
  • Provide crisis management support to students as necessary.
  • Conduct intake assessments and biopsychosocial evaluations, alongside case management duties.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff regarding students' academic and behavioral issues, interpersonal dynamics, and coping strategies.
  • Offer counseling to students outside of the assigned caseload as needed or at the request of a supervisor.

Case Management Duties

  • Act as a liaison between Coordinated Youth and Human Services and external agencies that provide services to students.
  • Serve as a point of contact for families of students within the caseload.

Academic Support

  • Assist in the completion of necessary documentation for special education students to ensure IEPs are current and participate in relevant meetings.
  • Administer standardized assessments to students within the assigned caseload.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage during staff absences as determined by the supervisor.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and administration to uphold school policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling is preferred.
  2. ISBE school counselor or social work endorsement, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is required.
  3. A minimum of two years of experience in social work or counseling is preferred.
  4. Experience working with youth facing emotional, behavioral, or academic challenges is preferred, including work with adolescents and families utilizing therapeutic techniques.
  5. A positive, empathetic demeanor with the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with students and families.
  6. Ability to collaborate and interact with all school personnel and students in a respectful and cooperative manner.
  7. Capability to perform under pressure.
  8. Strong organizational skills, time management, and adaptability to meet the needs of staff and students.
  9. A willingness to take on responsibilities appropriate for the role.
