POSITION SUMMARY

The selected counselor/social worker will deliver therapeutic interventions and consultations to students and their families, providing individual, group, and family therapy, as well as crisis intervention as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Duties

  • Deliver clinical services to individuals on the assigned caseload.
  • Facilitate daily social-emotional group sessions.
  • Provide crisis intervention for students as required.
  • Conduct intake assessments and biopsychosocial evaluations, along with case management.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff regarding students' academic performance, behavioral issues, interpersonal relationships, and coping strategies.
  • Offer counseling to students outside of the assigned caseload as needed or upon supervisor's request.

Case Management Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between Coordinated Youth and Human Services and external agencies providing services to students.
  • Serve as a point of contact for families of students on the caseload.

Academic Support Functions

  • Assist in completing necessary documentation for special education students to maintain updated IEPs and participate in relevant meetings.
  • Administer standardized assessments to students within the assigned caseload.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage during staff absences as determined by the supervisor.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and administration to uphold school policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling is preferred.
  2. Required credentials include ISBE school counselor or social work endorsement, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  3. A minimum of two years of experience in social work or counseling is preferred.
  4. Experience working with youth facing emotional, behavioral, or academic challenges is preferred, including therapeutic interventions with adolescents and families.
  5. Possess a positive, empathetic demeanor with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with students and families.
  6. Ability to collaborate and interact with all school personnel and students in a respectful and cooperative manner.
  7. Capability to perform under stressful conditions.
  8. Strong organizational skills, time management, and flexibility to meet the needs of staff and students.
  9. Willingness to undertake responsibilities appropriate for the role.
