POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Teen REACH Coordinator, the Recreation Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the afterschool program at their designated school. This initiative aims to enrich students' lives by enhancing educational outcomes, providing life skills education, encouraging parental involvement, facilitating recreation, offering positive adult mentorship, and engaging in service-learning activities.
WORKING HOURS
Summer Session: 12:45 PM - 5:00 PM (Majority of time spent outdoors)
School Session: 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Teen REACH Site Supervisor and Recreation Assistant with daily scheduled activities.
- Foster an inclusive environment by engaging with students.
- Support on-site tutors as needed.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for participants, parents/guardians, tutors, mentors, and volunteers.
- Ensure adherence to all school and program regulations and intervene when necessary.
- Participate in all staff meetings and training sessions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred experience in afterschool programs and youth community prevention.
- Training and/or experience in trauma-informed practices is advantageous.
- Ability to collaborate and interact positively with all staff and students.
- Proficient in building rapport with the student demographic.
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and adaptability are essential.
- Must possess a positive attitude and energetic demeanor.
