POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Teen REACH Coordinator, the Recreation Assistant will play a vital role in facilitating activities for the after-school program at the designated school. This initiative aims to enrich students' lives by enhancing academic performance, providing life skills education, encouraging parental involvement, promoting recreation, offering positive adult mentorship, and engaging in service-learning opportunities.
WORKING HOURS
Summer Session: 12:45 PM - 5:00 PM (primarily outdoor activities)
School Session: 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Teen REACH Site Supervisor and Recreation Assistant in executing daily scheduled activities.
- Engage with students to foster an inclusive atmosphere.
- Support on-site tutors in their efforts.
- Create a welcoming environment for participants, parents/guardians, tutors, mentors, and volunteers.
- Ensure adherence to all school and program regulations and intervene as necessary.
- Participate in all staff meetings and training sessions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred experience in after-school programs and youth community prevention.
- Training and/or experience in trauma-informed practices is advantageous.
- Ability to collaborate and interact positively with all staff and students.
- Proficient in building rapport with the student demographic.
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and adaptability are essential.
- Must possess a positive attitude and energetic demeanor.
