Senior Vice President of Visual Effects – Sony Pictures Entertainment

Reports to: President of Production Administration, Columbia Pictures

As a pivotal figure in the evolution of cinematic artistry, the Senior Vice President of Visual Effects at Sony Pictures Entertainment will have the unique opportunity to lead and manage the Visual Effects division, crafting stunning visual narratives that engage audiences globally. This essential position transcends traditional management, demanding a forward-thinking vision to enhance and set the standard for visual storytelling in Sony Pictures' live-action productions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the Visual Effects division, supervising personnel and film initiatives to guarantee quality and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Oversee all phases of VFX production, offering direction to producers, supervisors, and teams from pre-visualization through to post-production.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive VFX breakdowns, budgets, and production methodologies based on script analysis and storyboards.
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and executives to align production strategies and budgets with project specifications.
  • Remain informed on industry advancements, seeking out new vendors and technologies to bolster the company's competitive position in visual effects.
  • Administer material distribution to VFX firms, manage vendor selection, and personnel recruitment in partnership with the President of Production Administration.
  • Ensure precise financial reporting, track shot summaries, and oversee vendor contract negotiations and compliance.
  • Evaluate VFX cost reports, budget summaries, and manage project expenditures with efficiency.
  • Guarantee adherence to VFX policies and manage VFX on projects lacking designated personnel.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of leadership experience in the VFX sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of the VFX process from budgeting to film delivery.
  • Proven management capabilities in guiding VFX teams and film crews.
  • Thorough understanding of VFX creative execution.
  • Proficiency in database applications such as Shotgrid, Filemaker, and Pix.
  • Expertise in estimating and overseeing visual effects production.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Able to perform under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and excel in a dynamic environment.
  • Exhibit diplomacy and discretion in addressing sensitive issues and confidential matters.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $492,000 to $532,000 annually, with eligibility for incentives and comprehensive benefits. The actual salary offered will depend on individual qualifications, experience, education, and location.
