We have received certification as an Advanced Disease-Specific Care for Acute Stroke Ready Hospital from The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. Responsibilities:
We are in search of a Medical Laboratory Technologist II (PRN), also known as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist II, to join our team at St John's Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare. The Medical Laboratory Technologist II plays a vital role in the diagnostic process, requiring a combination of technical proficiency, analytical capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a healthcare team. This position operates on a per diem basis, meaning PRN.

Key Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):
- Conduct laboratory analyses on blood, tissues, and other bodily fluids to assist in diagnosing diseases and medical conditions, encompassing both routine and specialized tests.
- Interpret laboratory results, identify any irregularities, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of findings to support healthcare professionals in making informed decisions regarding patient care.
- Oversee quality control measures to uphold high standards in laboratory testing, including calibrating and maintaining laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Maintain precise and comprehensive records of all laboratory tests conducted and their corresponding results, inputting data into our laboratory information systems.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, governmental regulations, and accreditation standards in all laboratory operations.
- Occasionally engage with patients, particularly during specimen collection, and explain procedures to ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
- ASCP certification or equivalent, or specialized military training in laboratory science is required.
- Preferred: Two years of experience in a hospital laboratory setting.
- Bachelor's Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technician from an accredited institution, or other educational qualifications as specified in CLIA (42 CFR).
- Current and valid state license if required by the state where the laboratory is located.
