Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at St. John's Hospital. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by processing specimens, performing routine and specialized tests, and ensuring the accuracy of results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, process, and prepare specimens for analysis, including blood, urine, and other bodily fluids.
  • Perform routine and specialized tests to analyze specimens and provide data on patient health, including tests in hematology, chemistry, and other areas.
  • Interpret lab test results and ensure accuracy, entering data into laboratory information systems and preparing reports for healthcare providers.
  • Follow quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, including calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment and performing routine maintenance tasks.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, safety regulations, and accreditation standards, maintaining a clean and organized work environment and using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Occasionally interact with patients, explaining procedures to ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
Requirements
  • Current and valid state license if the laboratory is located in a state where required.
  • ASCP certification, or equivalent, required.
  • Associates degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or completion of coursework in a program for MLT.
  • 3 years of hospital laboratory work experience preferred.
