Coastal Engineering Specialist

A position for a Coastal Engineering Specialist is now open at AMI Consulting Engineers, P.A. This role will provide you with opportunities to deepen your understanding of various waterfront initiatives.

AMI is in search of a full-time Coastal Engineering Specialist with over 2 years of relevant experience to become part of our team. The ideal candidate will take charge of evaluations, proposals, design, and the planning/execution of waterfront engineering tasks across a diverse array of projects, including marinas, shorelines, developments, dredging, bioengineering, rehabilitation, and restoration.

The successful applicant should demonstrate outstanding written and verbal communication abilities and possess a strong commitment to each assigned project. Fieldwork and travel will be necessary to fulfill project requirements. The right candidate will meet client engineering needs by delivering exceptional service. Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in coastal engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain it within 2 years
  • Capability to delegate tasks effectively to meet project milestones
  • Willingness to travel and work remotely for brief periods
  • Proficient in designing waterfront structures and systems
  • Familiarity with hydraulic processes
  • Understanding of environmental issues and considerations
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD Civil 3D)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated individual who meets deadlines and takes responsibility
  • Enjoys a fast-paced and ever-evolving work environment
  • Possesses an internal locus of control
  • Demonstrated ability to create construction documents
  • Ability to conduct independent fieldwork

Additional Desired Qualifications (Not Required):

  • Experience in construction administration
  • Capability to mentor junior staff members
  • Experience with numerical modeling
