Position Overview
This Facilities Engineering Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing the Facilities Engineering team by providing guidance, daily assistance, and managing operational activities. This role is integral in administering Utility and Energy Management initiatives while also supporting the Facility Management Programs. The Supervisor ensures the seamless operation of building systems and facility equipment, facilitating continuous functionality of the facilities and offering technical insight on various facility projects. Additionally, this position is responsible for driving process enhancements and establishing competency training programs for all Facilities Engineering personnel. The Supervisor collaborates with leadership to ensure the department can cultivate and manage a skilled workforce capable of delivering high-quality, safe, and compliant facilities that minimize risks to patients and families.

Work Environment
This role is primarily based onsite, with responsibilities extending to various clinics in the metro area and occasional travel to other locations as necessary.

Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is between $84,156 and $126,235 annually, with a median salary of $105,196. Compensation is influenced by relevant experience and internal equity. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of the engineering team effectively.
  • Manage employee schedules to ensure adequate coverage and direct workload distribution across multiple sites.
  • Assign project work to align with preventive maintenance schedules and identify maintenance needs for building systems.
  • Oversee procurement of supplies and equipment, ensuring compliance with departmental timelines.
  • Approve work requests from contractors and vendors, addressing any issues to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Conduct timely evaluations of staff performance based on established criteria.
  • Provide training on building systems, new technologies, and procedural updates, ensuring training effectiveness.
  • Ensure that the engineering staff delivers exceptional customer service while minimizing disruptions to patient care.
Quality Control Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance as required and maintain accurate documentation using facilities management software.
  • Monitor and adjust utility and energy systems across campus buildings, recommending upgrades as necessary.
  • Ensure critical systems function properly and repairs are completed in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff and facility landlords to ensure safe operation of essential utilities and infrastructure.
  • Maintain accountability for quality through regular performance monitoring.
  • Manage key control and lock replacement across all sites.
  • Work with various departments to ensure timely resolution of issues and effective project management.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as needed.
Continuous Improvement Management
  • Identify new vendors or services for building system maintenance and provide oversight for their work.
  • Conduct quality assurance tours and document departmental concerns and expectations.
  • Engage in routine discussions with staff regarding performance and address disciplinary matters when necessary.
  • Submit required documentation to management in a timely manner and ensure appropriate meeting attendance.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of experience in facilities engineering or maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Understanding of building systems and equipment maintenance requirements.
  • Familiarity with infection control protocols.
  • Ability to train and mentor staff effectively.
  • Experience responding to emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems operations and maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
Preferred:
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Certified Pool Operators License.
  • MN State Boilers License.
