As a Senior Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the engineering team that supports our products. You will assist in developing insights within the infrastructure domain, translating abstract architectures into concrete designs, and influencing implementations. Your expertise in applying hardware engineering patterns will be crucial in building robust and scalable systems. You will leverage your programming skills to develop products, design architectures independently, and influence fellow engineers through design proposals and constructive feedback. Key Responsibilities:
- Apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized areas of the technology domain.
- Evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making processes, considering factors such as viability, maintainability, and cost of ownership.
- Initiate and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies.
- Manage product financials and forecasting.
- Lead design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services.
- Conduct code reviews, design reviews, testing, and debugging activities at the application level.
- Facilitate functional design and architecture discussions, understanding process flows and system diagrams to inform design decisions.
- Participate in routine and non-routine construction, automation, and implementation activities, ensuring compliance with architectural and operational requirements.
- Provide technical oversight and coach others in resolving complex technical issues.
- Lead disaster recovery initiatives and contribute to planning efforts.
- Embed data quality protocols throughout data acquisition, processing, storage, and operational use.
The SAVE (Stores, Assets, and Vendor Experience) team significantly impacts the store experience by delivering exceptional support services for Target technology across all facilities. The team collaborates with vendor partners to provide on-site technical hardware support and off-site repairs for Target-owned devices. Additionally, SAVE manages parts shipping for various service calls and oversees the health of spare inventory. A key mission of the SAVE team is to efficiently execute hardware fulfillment processes, ensuring that Target facilities and team members have the necessary hardware to deliver optimal technology support.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS or equivalent experience in IT hardware engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure hardware design, building, testing, supporting, or engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of standard engineering technical approaches in design, build, testing, and debugging.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure hardware such as servers, network equipment, Android tablets, Point of Sale systems, IP cameras, and more.
- Experience with coding or scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Java, etc.), preferably with REST API development.
- Strong understanding of the impact of individual work on team and guest experiences.
- Commitment to maintaining technical knowledge within areas of expertise.
- Ability to stay current with new and evolving technologies through formal training and self-directed learning.
- Excellent critical thinking and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficient debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Strong hands-on skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
