POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Construction Specialist is integral to KFI's technical service delivery, providing field consulting during construction projects. This role is crucial for ensuring successful project execution both in the design office and on-site, working closely with clients and construction teams.
The specialist will focus on coordinating communications among various stakeholders, including the KFI project team, clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting field issues, liaising with design engineers, and facilitating timely decision-making that impacts project quality and client satisfaction.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities encompass:
- Project Execution: Collaborate with project managers, serve as a client contact, and represent KFI's interests in construction meetings.
- Field Research: Gather necessary information from the field to assist the project team and identify root causes of issues.
- Documentation Review: Inspect construction documents and ensure compliance with design standards.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor contractor work to meet KFI and client standards.
- Commissioning Support: Conduct evaluations and audits, including functional tests of electrical systems.
- Business Development: Engage with clients through presentations and participation in industry events.
- Standards Development: Maintain quality standards for construction administration deliverables.
- Staff Development: Mentor junior staff and promote knowledge sharing through project reviews.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
15+ years of relevant experience is essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong field experience in construction, with the ability to communicate effectively and build credibility. A comprehensive understanding of technical work in the field is crucial, along with the ability to convey complex situations clearly.
Strong communication and influencing skills are necessary, as is the capacity to work collaboratively with diverse teams. The candidate should be self-directed and adaptable to changing circumstances, with a solid background in power generation systems and relevant licenses preferred.
WORK TRAVEL
This position requires the ability to travel, with approximately 50% of work potentially involving overnight stays.
