POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Construction Specialist is integral to KFI's provision of technical services, engaging in field consulting as part of construction projects or contracts. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of projects, both during the design phase in the office and on-site with clients and construction teams. The individual will coordinate communications and workflows among various stakeholders, including KFI project teams, clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Project Execution: Collaborate with project managers, serving as a liaison with clients, professionals, contractors, and suppliers. Attend construction meetings to represent the interests of both KFI and the client. Gather field information to support the team and conduct necessary research to identify and resolve issues.
  • Documentation Review: Review and clarify construction documents, ensuring compliance with design standards. Engage in the design phase to produce construction documents and address non-routine code issues.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor contractor and subcontractor work quality, ensuring it meets or exceeds KFI and client standards. Assist in commissioning efforts through building performance evaluations and audits.
  • Business Development: Participate in pre-proposal meetings, contribute to proposals, and engage with clients through conferences and technical society activities. Deliver technical presentations on relevant topics.
  • Standards Development: Establish and maintain quality standards for construction administration deliverables and develop tools to enhance productivity.
  • Staff Development: Mentor junior staff and peers, utilizing project reviews as teaching opportunities to enhance knowledge and reduce errors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
15+ years of relevant experience is essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong construction and field experience, with the ability to engage and build credibility with diverse individuals. Strong communication and influencing skills are critical, along with a collaborative mindset and adaptability to changing circumstances. Field experience in startup and commissioning of power generation systems is preferred, along with a Master Electrician license and a fundamental understanding of various disciplines.

WORK TRAVEL
This position may require travel, with approximately 50% of work involving overnight stays.
