POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Construction Specialist is integral to KFI's technical service delivery, providing field consulting as part of construction projects or contracts. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of projects, both in the design office and on-site with clients and construction teams.

This individual will primarily focus on coordinating communications and workflows among various stakeholders, including the KFI project team, clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting field issues, liaising with design engineers, and facilitating timely decision-making that impacts project quality and client satisfaction.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Project Execution: Collaborate with project managers, serving as a primary contact for clients and contractors. Attend construction meetings to represent both client and KFI needs, gather field information, and conduct necessary research to resolve issues.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect equipment and observe testing processes. Review construction documents for compliance with design standards and project requirements.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with KFI staff to expedite problem resolution and maintain project momentum.
  • Monitoring: Oversee contractor and subcontractor work quality, ensuring it meets or exceeds KFI and client standards.
  • Commissioning Support: Conduct building performance evaluations and audits, including functional tests for electrical, lighting, and life safety systems.
  • Project Management: Assist in developing construction administration plans and ensuring timely project delivery.
  • Business Development: Engage in pre-proposal meetings, contribute to proposals, and maintain an active role in technical societies.
  • Standards Development: Establish and maintain quality standards for construction administration deliverables.
  • Staff Development: Mentor junior staff and peers, utilizing project reviews as teaching opportunities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
15+ years of relevant experience is essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong field experience in construction, the ability to engage and build credibility with diverse stakeholders, and excellent communication skills. A collaborative mindset, adaptability to changing circumstances, and a thorough understanding of various disciplines are crucial for success in this role.

WORK TRAVEL
This position may require travel, with approximately 50% of work potentially involving overnight stays.
