Position Summary

The Server Infrastructure Engineer II plays a crucial role in the design, support, management, and upkeep of our server and storage systems. This encompasses a range of technologies including standalone servers, blade chassis, and various storage solutions from multiple vendors. The role involves ensuring connectivity between servers and storage through technologies such as Fiber Channel, iSCSI, and NFS, as well as implementing replication, snapshot technologies, and virtualization solutions. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to backup and recovery strategies and software.

This position is under the supervision of the Director of IT and offers the flexibility to work remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clients and other technical teams to gather business requirements and define project scopes, prioritizing team deliverables to align with organizational goals.
  • Design, test, and maintain server and storage systems, including replication and backup processes.
  • Develop comprehensive technology roadmaps.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues effectively.
  • Address multifaceted problems with numerous variables.
  • Provide regular updates on system status to stakeholders.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as required.
  • Oversee team performance and manage daily operational workflows.
  • Report on team activities and performance metrics as needed.
  • Document project scopes and provide updates on significant initiatives to management.
  • Manage change control documentation and associated requirements.
  • Facilitate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in the design, planning, and installation of new and expanded surveillance systems, updating system configuration documentation as necessary.
  • Ensure the quality of video surveillance equipment, maintaining the desired recording history.
  • Analyze system faults, running diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to identify issues.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for parts and services.
  • Perform necessary system software and firmware upgrades.
  • Maintain an inventory of critical spare equipment and parts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of server architecture, HDD technologies, and RAID configurations.
  • Proficient in virtualization technologies for server environments.
  • Technical expertise in supporting global enterprise solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex issues.
  • In-depth understanding of backup, recovery, and replication technologies and strategies.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve team objectives.
  • Capacity to manage stressful situations as a senior contact and decision-maker regarding server and storage design.
  • Familiarity with software and hardware utilized in server and storage systems, with a keen awareness of advanced technologies.
  • Experience with NetApp and VMware is preferred.
  • Skill in utilizing available resources efficiently to establish effective and maintainable systems.
  • Commitment to staying updated on new and advanced technologies and incorporating them into designs.
  • Experience in project implementation management.
  • Ability to influence policies, programs, and long-term objectives of the organization and team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting and presenting requirements to both business and technical teams, including cost-benefit and business impact analyses.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in designing, planning, and installing new and expanded surveillance systems, with the ability to prepare and update configuration documentation.
  • Capability to ensure the quality of video surveillance equipment and validate recording history.
  • Experience in analyzing system faults and performing diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and oversee vendors and suppliers for parts and services.
  • Experience in performing necessary system software and firmware upgrades.
  • Responsibility for maintaining an inventory of critical spare equipment and parts.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is competitive and will be determined based on factors such as experience, geographic location, education, and skills. This will be mutually agreed upon at the time of the offer.
