Role Overview: We are seeking a committed and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic team as a Senior Avionics Communication Systems Test Engineer. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of space travel and requires a strong focus on safety and repeatability in spaceflight operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize your expertise in avionics hardware and software to integrate, analyze, test, and validate cutting-edge avionics systems for various spaceflight applications.
- Collaborate effectively with a diverse team of engineers, ensuring seamless integration of firmware with other system components.
- Communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written formats.
- Design, develop, and integrate electrical and avionics hardware and software solutions to support our advanced avionic systems.
- Identify and communicate risks, issues, and solutions to peers across various technical disciplines.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation, including problem assessments, test data evaluations, and acceptance tests.
- Present and defend analyses and reports during peer reviews, ensuring thorough understanding and collaboration.
- Perform data interpretation and analysis of integrated electrical and avionics systems.
- Act as a mentor and resource for less experienced colleagues, fostering a culture of learning and development.
- Engage with suppliers for avionics hardware procurement, working closely with design engineers to ensure effective testing and integration of hardware.
- Collaborate directly with NASA and national partners as part of the Human Landing System program, contributing to the development of lunar transportation systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Hands-on laboratory experience, including ESD protocols and hardware handling.
- Proficiency with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
- Strong knowledge of RF components and systems, including experience with software-defined radios and antennas.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in electronics or electromechanical systems, with hands-on experience in prototyping, design, integration, or testing.
- Understanding of safety-critical systems development.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in circuit simulation tools and programming languages such as MATLAB and Python.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively throughout the product lifecycle.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with PCB design tools and soldering techniques.
- Familiarity with avionics standards and guidelines.
- Experience across multiple frequency bands.
