Position Overview:
Become a key member of our Underwriting Alternate Funding division. This role is pivotal in supporting various funding mechanisms, including Self-Funding, Level Funding, and Risk Sharing Arrangements. As the demand for Alternate Funding rises, particularly with the growth of Level Funding across multiple regions, our team is focused on continuous improvement and innovation in Self-Funding strategies.

Assess standard and complex data to analyze premium, claims, exposure, and demographics. Proactively identify and escalate actionable insights and discrepancies, while researching viable solutions. Play a significant role in the development and documentation of models, tools, and assumptions that enhance business strategy analysis and risk management. Recognize and escalate challenges related to quality and process enhancement initiatives. With minimal supervision, evaluate account risks and leverage foundational knowledge of the external business landscape. Present renewal recommendations to clients and the organization with confidence. Collaborate internally to formulate case and investment strategies, while independently crafting rates and account plans that effectively mitigate risk. Engage in rate negotiations with external stakeholders and assist clients in understanding our underwriting methodologies. Address data inquiries and foster relationships that influence outcomes with customers and partners. Work closely with internal teams to deliver financial solutions tailored to customer needs. Conduct self and peer reviews of cases to ensure compliance with relevant policies, guidelines, and procedures.

Monitor priorities, deadlines, and expectations while identifying opportunities for team improvement.
  • Analyze and report on data by evaluating both standard and complex datasets to comprehend premium, claims, exposure, and population risk with minimal guidance; apply foundational knowledge to assess credibility, utilization, and risk based on population size and historical behavior; independently identify and escalate actionable insights and potential data irregularities while researching solutions; contribute to the creation and application of models and analytics tools that support business strategy and financial risk management.
  • Manage case and underwriting tasks by processing renewal activities, including generating reports and re-quotes for clients under limited supervision; collaborate with internal departments to develop rates that effectively mitigate risk and promote sustainable membership growth; create and execute account plans that address risks and opportunities in partnership with Sales and Account Management; exercise judgment during rate negotiations with external parties.
  • Participate in case review and preparation by conducting risk assessments using competitive analyses, broker behavior, and network cost profiles with minimal guidance; utilize data and standardized tools to present underwriting and renewal recommendations to clients and the organization; expand foundational knowledge of the external business environment as it relates to the line of business.
  • Engage with the external market by assisting clients in understanding our underwriting approach, addressing data needs proactively, and building relationships that enable a clear understanding of our value proposition; collaborate with account management and sales teams to deliver strategic financial solutions and communicate product capabilities.
  • Contribute to departmental goals and initiatives by identifying and escalating issues related to innovative quality and process improvements; execute work in alignment with departmental and enterprise objectives.
  • Ensure compliance in underwriting activities by conducting self and peer reviews of cases to validate accuracy and appropriateness of quotes; obtain and document necessary approvals and policy exceptions; maintain awareness of and adherence to all relevant policies and guidelines.
