Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic leader to serve as the Dean of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at Peralta Community College District. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and vision for the division, ensuring the delivery of high-quality academic programs and services that meet the needs of students and the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Vision
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the division, aligning with the college's mission and goals.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to faculty and staff, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Academic Program Development
    • Develop and implement new academic programs and courses, ensuring alignment with industry needs and community requirements.
    • Collaborate with faculty and staff to review and revise existing programs, ensuring they remain relevant and effective.
  • Faculty and Staff Management
    • Recruit, hire, and evaluate faculty and staff, ensuring a diverse and talented team.
    • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities, promoting faculty and staff growth and success.
  • Community Engagement
    • Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and community groups, promoting collaboration and mutual benefit.
    • Engage with the community to identify needs and develop programs that address those needs.
  • Financial Management
    • Develop and manage budgets, ensuring effective use of resources and alignment with college goals.
    • Monitor and analyze financial data, making informed decisions to optimize resource allocation.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree
    • Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Leadership Experience
    • One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's assignment.
  • Technical Skills
    • Knowledge and proficiency in the operation and use of personal computers, utilizing office productivity software applications (i.e., word processing, spreadsheet, and database management software) including the Internet.
  • Cultural Competency
    • Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college staff, faculty, and students.
