Job Summary

The International Association for Social Science Information Service and Technology is seeking a highly skilled Digital Collections and Metadata Librarian to join our team. As a key member of our technical services team, you will be responsible for processing special collections in a range of formats and sizes for digital capture/reformatting, data extraction, file management, online publication, and discovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Processing special collections in a range of formats and sizes for digital capture/reformatting, data extraction, file management, online publication, and discovery.
  • Creation and maintenance of descriptive, administrative, structural, and preservation metadata for digital special collection resources to support content and collection management, online publication, discovery, and preservation of digital collections.
  • Contributing to department-level planning and development of internal best practice guidelines, workflows, policies, and procedures, in line with guidelines and initiatives across the library.
  • Project management of multiple digital projects in collaboration with partners within and outside of the library.
  • Keeping abreast of digital, born digital, data, archival, and special collection standards and practices.
  • Participation in regular departmental activities, library-wide working groups, and relevant UC-wide activities.
  • Contributing to communications regarding digital initiatives, work, and project reporting.
  • Training and supervising student assistants.
Requirements
  • Advanced degree or enrolled in an advanced degree program.
  • Master's degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution program or equivalent degree.
  • One year of experience in one or more functional areas of digital special collection initiatives.
  • Knowledge of ArchivesSpace, bibliographic catalogs, and other collection information and digital asset management platforms.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
