Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Customer Service Representative to join our team at Chesapeake Utilities Corporation. As a key member of our customer service team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our propane customers, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service assistance to new and existing propane customers via phone and email correspondence.
  • Initiate new accounts and prepare credit history checks.
  • Prepare work orders and delivery orders for dispatch to operations.
  • Charge customer accounts for services rendered.
  • Daily cash reconcile and reporting.
  • Update and maintain customer files (electronic and paper).
  • Attend virtual training sessions.
  • Maintain good customer relations.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by District Manager or Customer Service Manager.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • PC experience mandatory.
  • Excellent customer contact skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented and experience in computer processing helpful.
  • Working knowledge of basic office equipment/machines.
  • General understanding of office procedures and good public relation skills.
  • Operation of PC programs (Lotus 123 or Excel, Microsoft Word or Word Perfect).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to create, customize, and apply intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills to many variable spreadsheets and office documentation.
  • Intermediate Windows skills required to navigate, store, and apply filed folder management, and general software applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must have good telephone communication skills.
