Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a full-time, seasoned Civil Engineering Specialist (EIT) to thrive in a dynamic work environment. The ideal candidate will exhibit reliability, organization, and a commitment to precision in their work.


Key Responsibilities:
This role encompasses a variety of civil and geotechnical engineering tasks that support the design, construction, and oversight of both public and private projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting materials testing and construction inspections.
  • Drafting and preparing reports, designs, plans, and specifications for civil enhancements across various project types, including residential, commercial, and industrial.
  • Designing, permitting, inspecting, and managing the development of water systems, septic systems, and stormwater management facilities.
  • Selecting, monitoring, and inspecting suitable construction materials for project use.
  • Collaborating with jurisdictional agencies and clients to secure planning and building regulation approvals.
  • Engaging with professional staff such as architects and structural engineers.
  • Responding to inquiries from contractors, public agencies, and the general public regarding policies and procedures.
  • Overseeing and inspecting contractor work.
  • Administering and managing public and private works for bid contracts.
  • Assisting in resolving field issues alongside Project and Construction Managers.
  • Preparing technical reports across various civil engineering disciplines.
  • Conducting Traffic Studies to assess existing and projected levels of service (LOS) on roads and intersections.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
Applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Certification as Engineer-in-Training (EIT) by passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
  • Proficiency in engineering computations and design preparation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic and accountability.
  • Experience with computer-aided drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD).
  • Capability to produce drawings, specifications, and technical memoranda that articulate design foundations.
  • Strong technical writing and analytical abilities.
  • Familiarity with building codes, design manuals, and construction practices.


Preferred Skills:
Desirable skills include:

  • Knowledge of Washington State Energy Code compliance.
  • Proficiency in Phone Systems (Mitel) and Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Understanding of state and federal regulations for design, bidding, and construction.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Skill in exercising professional engineering judgment to achieve project objectives.
