Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a dedicated Civil Engineering Specialist to join our team at KLM Careers. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic work environment. The successful candidate will possess a strong commitment to accuracy and reliability while contributing to various engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible for a variety of engineering tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting comprehensive materials testing and construction inspections.
  • Preparing detailed reports, designs, plans, and specifications for civil engineering projects.
  • Designing, permitting, and managing the development of essential infrastructure systems.
  • Monitoring and inspecting construction materials to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Collaborating with regulatory agencies and clients to secure necessary approvals.
  • Engaging with architects and structural engineers to facilitate project success.
  • Overseeing contractor work and ensuring adherence to project timelines and standards.
  • Administering and managing public and private works contracts.
  • Assisting in problem-solving alongside Project and Construction Managers.
  • Preparing technical reports across various civil engineering disciplines.
  • Conducting traffic studies to assess service levels for project developments.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Certification as Engineer-in-Training (EIT) by passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
  • Proficiency in engineering computations and design preparation.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds.
  • Experience with computer-aided drafting software, such as AutoCAD, is preferred.
  • Strong technical writing and analytical abilities.
  • Familiarity with building codes and construction practices is advantageous.

Preferred Skills:

Additional skills that would enhance a candidate's application include:

  • Experience with Washington State Energy Code compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and phone systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to design and construction.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse teams.

Work Environment:

This position will involve both office and outdoor work, with occasional exposure to varying weather conditions and machinery.
