Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified Professional Engineer (EIT) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong commitment to accuracy and reliability.

This role involves executing civil and geotechnical engineering tasks to support the design, construction, and management of various public and private projects. The position includes oversight of assigned personnel and requires a collaborative approach to project management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a variety of materials testing, construction inspections, drafting, and civil engineering functions.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, designs, plans, and specifications for civil enhancements across diverse project types, including residential, commercial, and industrial.
  • Design, permit, inspect, and oversee the development of water systems, septic systems, and stormwater management facilities.
  • Select and evaluate construction materials for project suitability.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies and clients to secure necessary planning and building approvals.
  • Collaborate with architects and structural engineers, addressing inquiries from contractors and public agencies.
  • Monitor and assess contractor performance and compliance.
  • Administer and manage public and private works contracts, including bidding processes.
  • Assist Project and Construction Managers in resolving field-related challenges.
  • Prepare technical reports across various civil engineering disciplines.
  • Conduct Traffic Studies to assess existing and projected service levels on roadways and intersections.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Certification as Engineer-in-Training (EIT) after passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
  • Proficient in engineering computations and design preparation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities.
  • Business-oriented decision-making skills.
  • Physical capability to lift and move items up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated work ethic and accountability.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD) is advantageous.
  • Experience in producing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
  • Knowledge of building codes, design manuals, and construction practices is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with computer-aided drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD).
  • Understanding of Washington State Energy Code compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and phone systems.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with state and federal design, bidding, and construction regulations.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Proficient in both oral and written communication.
  • Skill in exercising professional engineering judgment to meet objectives.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting and outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
  • Exposure to machinery with moving parts may occur.
