Position Overview

Role Title: Early Childhood Education Support Specialist
Reports to: ECEAP Administrator
Status: Regular Non-Exempt
Compensation: $22.55/hr based on qualifications, with potential wage enhancements for bilingual skills.

Position Purpose:
This role is designed to provide essential support and resources to families, assist educators in classroom management and planning, and contribute to the health and well-being of children under the guidance of the Center Supervisor. Responsibilities include facilitating home visits, delivering health and nutritional guidance, and fostering parental engagement in the educational process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Center Supervisor to address families' fundamental health needs and provide necessary resources.
  • Assist in the development and execution of classroom activities tailored to meet the diverse needs of children.
  • Support the instruction of children and parents in areas such as nutrition, self-care, and developmental skills.
  • Participate in assessing children's developmental milestones to document progress and support their growth.
  • Maintain and organize children's health records and assist families with health care needs.
  • Lead classroom activities in the absence of the teacher to ensure a productive learning environment.
  • Engage in community meetings to relay and gather pertinent information.
  • Attend professional development workshops to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to early childhood education.
  • Conduct home visits to review children's health status and share valuable resources with families.
  • Contribute to team efforts by collaborating with colleagues and other program staff to uphold quality standards.
  • Monitor and maintain supplies related to health and nutrition.
  • Implement lesson plans and assist in creating a safe and nurturing environment for children.
  • Document activities and maintain accurate records to comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee children's activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Participate in various program-related activities to facilitate communication and information exchange.
  • Assist with health screenings to ensure children receive necessary evaluations and referrals.
  • Prepare health documentation to track children's health history.
  • Travel as needed to support program operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
High school diploma or GED, along with initial ECE Certification or equivalent coursework. Experience in early childhood programs, particularly with ECEAP or similar initiatives, is preferred.

Special Conditions:
The selected candidate must meet all program standards, including providing proof of a recent negative TB test, obtaining CPR/First Aid certification, and fulfilling health and immunization requirements.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of early childhood education principles and ethical standards.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children and families.
  • Capacity to manage stressful situations with professionalism.
  • Proficiency in using technology for communication and record-keeping.

Work Environment:
Work primarily occurs in office settings, requiring hand-eye coordination for operating computers and office equipment. Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
