Position Overview

The primary role of a Behavioral Support Specialist involves implementing consistent, evidence-based mental health services and Applied Behavioral Analysis programs for clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related developmental disabilities, as directed by the Clinical Leader and Clinical Director. Services are provided in various settings, including home and community environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct all scheduled sessions unless prior approval for time-off has been granted.
  • Primarily responsible for providing substitute sessions for other clients to maintain productivity when a session is canceled.
  • May be assigned additional hours or sessions based on regional leadership needs.
  • Implement individualized treatment goals and Behavioral Intervention Plans as directed by clinical leadership to enhance client behavior and skill acquisition.
  • Travel to various locations to deliver services effectively.
  • Complete daily session documentation and maintain thorough records.
  • Communicate any schedule changes or cancellations promptly to the clinical team.
  • Engage in regular meetings and maintain communication with clinical leadership regarding treatment plans and client concerns.
  • Ensure timely completion of necessary clinical documentation, including treatment session notes and data tracking.
  • Stay informed about current research and trends in special education and related fields.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications:
  • A passion for working with children and making a positive difference.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Flexible availability, particularly during peak hours.
  • Completion of new hire training, both online and in-person.
  • Proof of vaccinations as required.
  • Reliable transportation is essential.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making abilities.

  • Proficient in computer and word processing software.
Physical Requirements:
  • Visual acuity for close and distance tasks.
