Job Overview

Reporting to the Senior Director of Category Strategy, the Category Strategy Manager will be an integral part of a team dedicated to cultivating a profound understanding of designated industries and clients. This knowledge will be transformed into scalable, insight-driven, and client-oriented solutions and strategic positioning for the NBCUniversal portfolio. The Category Strategy team is also tasked with generating thought leadership narratives that are rooted in audience engagement, content relevance, media dynamics, and cultural trends on both national and global scales.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a key resource for category research across pivotal sectors such as Technology, Entertainment, and Telecommunications within NBCUniversal Ad Sales. Conduct thorough research, analysis, and reporting on pertinent categories, evolving consumer behaviors, and media industry developments. Analyze datasets to extract valuable insights and present them in clear, concise, and polished materials for both internal and external stakeholders. Craft and deliver compelling narratives regarding relevant categories, highlighting trends and insights to support the creation of client-focused strategies and category-specific solutions. Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the NBCUniversal portfolio and offer strategic sales positioning to distinguish NBCU offerings in the competitive landscape. Transform insights and trends into engaging narratives that illustrate how Comcast/NBCU platforms can effectively enhance a client's brand positioning through comprehensive marketing and media investments. Identify potential areas for revenue growth and collaborate with sales and cross-functional teams to leverage these opportunities. Organize, operationalize, and manage the daily activities of the Category Strategy team and associated categories. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members as needed.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree is required. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is necessary. The ideal candidate will possess strategic thinking abilities and a keen interest in advertising/media, consumer insights, and business dynamics. Must be a collaborative team player with excellent communication, strategic narrative, and interpersonal skills, focused on building and nurturing strong relationships. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Proactive in anticipating and addressing sales requests and client needs. Strong attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently and accurately. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required. Must have unrestricted work authorization in the United States. Candidates must submit a resume/CV for consideration.

Desired Attributes:

Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with interpersonal capabilities. Genuine interest in advertising/media, consumer insights, and business. Excellent reading comprehension, writing, and presentation skills. Familiarity with the creative development process is advantageous. A passion for the television and digital media landscape. Skills in deck/presentation design are a plus.

Additional Information:

This position is designated as hybrid, generally requiring in-office contributions a minimum of three days per week.
