Job Overview

The Assembly Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the assembly team, ensuring adherence to safety standards, quality benchmarks, timely delivery, productivity, and overall performance management. This position is pivotal in fostering continuous improvement initiatives, implementing 5S methodologies, and promoting Lean manufacturing principles while encouraging active participation from team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train and guide team members in established production techniques to ensure the creation of high-quality products safely and efficiently.
  • Assign tasks, manage parts procurement, and communicate production requirements effectively while conducting quality and safety audits.
  • Ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times.
  • Achieve or surpass company performance metrics related to safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Document production activities, including reports on scrap, accidents, and disciplinary actions, while upholding company policies and safety regulations.
  • Analyze actual performance against planned objectives and implement corrective measures as necessary.
  • Utilize precise measurement tools to monitor key performance indicators, identify negative trends, and take appropriate actions.
  • Meet essential performance indicators such as Quality, Safety, Productivity, Scrap Rates, Labor Efficiencies, On-time Delivery, Machine Downtime, and Inventory Levels to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Foster a positive work environment through effective employee-management relations and team-building initiatives.
  • Recognize and communicate the capabilities of team members to higher management.
  • Employ Lean tools proactively to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve safety and quality outcomes.
  • Complete necessary systems-related tasks including those in Mapics, Kronos, and Zone.
  • Engage in additional projects and responsibilities to support ongoing business objectives.

  • Provides clear direction to team members.
  • Utilizes experience and judgment to achieve assigned goals and tasks.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing assembly processes, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with Lean, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Production Daikin System and Flexible Manufacturing System (training provided).
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities; able to envision, develop, direct, manage, delegate, and motivate team members.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal abilities.
  • High attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to promoting a safe and environmentally healthy workplace.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, strong work ethics, and integrity in all job functions.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a high-volume manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • At least 2 years in a leadership capacity.

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred college degree or equivalent work experience.
  • PDS/FMS Certification – to be obtained through in-house training.
