Job Overview

The Forklift and Reach Truck Operator plays a crucial role in the efficient management of materials within the warehouse and production areas. This position involves the receipt, transportation, delivery, and handling of all materials, ensuring that all administrative tasks related to record maintenance are accurately completed. The operator is responsible for verifying incoming and outgoing materials, delivering goods to designated storage locations, and conducting periodic inventory checks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate factory transfers within the warehouse and production zones.
  • Safely operate industrial forklifts and reach trucks to load and unload materials, transporting them to and from storage areas, machinery, and loading docks.
  • Ensure that goods packed on pallets or in crates are delivered to the correct locations securely.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, identifying any discrepancies.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and submit it at the end of each shift.
  • Conduct daily pre- and post-shift inspections of equipment and vehicles.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings and adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Execute tasks in a timely and safe manner, following operational instructions.
  • Successfully complete the company's internal training program for forklift and reach truck operation.

Nature of the Role:

  • Work under the guidance of a supervisor, following established procedures and instructions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to operate reach trucks and forklifts safely in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in handling materials efficiently and safely.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and scanning equipment is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail to prevent injuries and ensure timely movement of materials.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Dependable team player committed to promoting a safe work environment.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience operating forklifts; prior experience with reach trucks is preferred.
  • Experience in large-scale manufacturing or warehouse settings is advantageous.

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Completion of 16 hours of Reach Truck training following 40 hours of in-house forklift training is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to forklift traffic and potential noise; hearing protection may be required.
