Job Overview

Position Type: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 40 hours per week. Occasional Saturday shifts and extended hours may be required.

The Patient Support Specialist serves as a vital link between healthcare providers and patients. This role involves:

  • Welcoming patients and ensuring accurate updates in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Scheduling follow-up appointments and collecting necessary co-pays.
  • Educating patients about available programs, including Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy, Case Management, Behavioral Health, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Quick Care.

Patient Support Specialists are trained to:

  • Verify insurance details and maintain the accuracy of patient documentation.
  • Utilize a multi-line phone system effectively.
  • Deliver exceptional service even amidst frequent interruptions.

Key competencies for this role include:

  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and their families, particularly in challenging situations.
  • Compassion and understanding towards patients with special healthcare needs.

Confidentiality is paramount, and all patient information must be handled with the utmost care. The Patient Support Specialist must also be able to identify medical emergencies and notify the appropriate medical staff when necessary.
