Position Overview

The Clinical Nurse Specialist plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission of Gastro Care Partners by delivering safe and effective patient care throughout the perioperative process, adhering to established standards of practice. This role involves independent responsibilities including patient admission and education for procedures, preparation of procedure rooms, assisting physicians during endoscopic interventions, and overseeing patient recovery post-procedure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care, both via telephone and in-person interactions.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
  • Ensure continuity and quality of care, prioritizing the well-being of patients and their families.
  • Collaborate in the development of personalized treatment plans.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate patient conditions effectively, working across disciplines to coordinate care, including transfers, discharges, and referrals.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and follow up on pathology results.
  • Facilitate the scheduling of patient procedures.
  • Provide education to patients and families based on their specific conditions and diagnoses.
  • Support the scheduling of procedures in collaboration with staff.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency situations, particularly in cases of respiratory or cardiac distress.
  • Report emergencies and unusual occurrences to the Provider and Operations Manager or Lead RN.
  • Assist with clinic operations, including cleaning and sterilizing equipment.
Qualifications:
  • Current Registered Nurse license in Colorado.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a GI lab, Surgery Center, or Critical Care environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience in Pre-Op and/or PACU settings is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and electronic health record systems, such as EPIC, is required.
  • Familiarity with GCP, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA policies.
