Position Overview

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 40 hours per week.

The Patient Support Specialist serves a crucial role as the intermediary between healthcare providers and patients. This position involves:

  • Welcoming patients and ensuring their information is accurately updated in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Coordinating follow-up appointments and collecting necessary co-pays.
  • Informing patients about available programs such as Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy, Case Management, Behavioral Health, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Quick Care.

Patient Support Specialists are trained to:

  • Verify insurance details and meticulously review patient documentation.
  • Update registrations and manage a multi-line phone system.
  • Ensure that each patient's experience aligns with their expectations.

This role demands a high level of courtesy, cooperation, and the ability to manage numerous detailed tasks amidst frequent interruptions. Essential skills include:

  • Attention to detail and initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to handle challenging interactions with patients and their families.

Confidentiality is paramount; all patient information must be handled with the utmost discretion. The Patient Support Specialist must also be capable of recognizing medical emergencies and notifying the appropriate medical staff, as well as assisting other healthcare providers when necessary.

In summary, the Patient Support Specialist must maintain a professional demeanor while navigating complex situations, treating patients, providers, and colleagues with respect and dignity.
