This position involves gathering patient and procedural details and providing guidance to patients regarding their surgical preparation and responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organizes patient appointments based on surgical and procedural directives.
- Effectively communicates procedure details and patient instructions in a timely manner to patients and their families, including any financial responsibilities.
- Collaborates with healthcare providers regarding scheduling and necessary educational resources for patients.
- Submits physician orders for procedures to relevant medical facilities as needed.
- Coordinates surgeries and procedures within designated surgical time slots at affiliated medical centers as requested by the physician.
- Ensures that schedules are accurate and timely, and promptly communicates any delays or cancellations to support staff.
- Monitors physician requests throughout the day to ensure timely responses.
- Refers scheduling challenges to the appropriate authority and offers recommendations for resolution.
- Adheres to organizational and HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Assists with additional operational tasks as assigned.
- Performs other duties as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare environment.
- At least 1 year of experience in scheduling surgeries or procedures is preferred.
- Familiarity with ICD-9 and CPT Coding, along with a working knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
- Proficient in MS Excel or other scheduling software.
