Job Overview

The Patient Support Specialist serves as a crucial link between healthcare providers and patients. In this role, the specialist is responsible for:

  • Welcoming patients and ensuring accurate updates in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Coordinating follow-up appointments and collecting necessary co-pays.
  • Informing patients about available programs such as Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy, Case Management, Behavioral Health, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Quick Care.

Patient Support Specialists are trained to:

  • Verify insurance information and maintain up-to-date patient documents.
  • Utilize a multi-line phone system effectively.
  • Deliver exceptional service while managing multiple tasks amidst interruptions.

Key attributes for success in this role include:

  • Strong attention to detail and initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle challenging interactions with patience and empathy.
  • Confidentiality in managing sensitive patient information.

Additionally, the Patient Support Specialist must be adept at recognizing medical emergencies and notifying the appropriate medical staff, as well as providing assistance to other healthcare providers when necessary.

In summary, the Patient Support Specialist is expected to maintain a professional demeanor, treating patients, providers, and colleagues with respect and dignity.
