Position Overview

This is a full-time, 11-month role with a competitive hourly wage.

The Youth Engagement Specialist (YES) is an integral member of a school-based support services team. The YES fosters a welcoming environment for students, families, and faculty, built on collaborative relationships and open communication. This role encompasses a comprehensive range of support services, with a focus on prevention education, alternative disciplinary measures, and immediate crisis intervention. The YES will implement various evidence-based practices, including group sessions, workshops, and educational curricula, with an emphasis on Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS). Additionally, the YES will facilitate access to supplementary resources from The Center for Youth Services.

Note: Work hours may coincide with school hours, including early mornings and late afternoons. Special events or initiatives may occur during evenings or weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers and oversees on-site programs
  • Collaborates with School Administrators to ensure services align with identified needs, meeting regularly
  • Participates in School Support Service meetings
  • Implements a restorative approach to discipline
  • Develops and manages data collection and program evaluation systems
  • Submits monthly reports to the Director of School-Based Programs
  • Coordinates requests for prevention education services
  • Maintains accurate records in compliance with funding and agency standards
  • Conducts outreach and disseminates information
  • Facilitates referrals and readiness for services
  • Provides immediate support and intervention
  • Delivers prevention education with fidelity, including asset-building groups and research-based curricula
  • Engages in activities that promote asset development and risk reduction
  • Offers alternatives to suspension, including pre/post assessments and transitional support
  • Acts as an agency ambassador at various community events
  • Possesses knowledge of school policies and procedures
  • Researches and designs services with a focus on outcomes and impact tracking
  • Maintains records, evaluations, and quality assurance
  • Develops and sustains resource files, lesson plans, and training materials
  • Participates in individual supervision and all required meetings and training sessions
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of child and adolescent development, including principles of positive youth development, asset building, risk reduction, and protective factors. Knowledge of crisis management and behavior management techniques, as well as familiarity with community resources and client advocacy, is essential.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field, along with 1-3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Note: A Master's Degree, advanced training, or certification in relevant areas is preferred. A valid driver's license is required.
