Position Summary:

This role involves supporting the SOR3 Recovery Coach in the recruitment and organization of youth participants for the SOR3 initiative at the CORE Center. The candidate will be expected to represent the SOR3 project publicly and advocate for the rights of youth in recovery.

Direct Supervisor: Director of Recovery Services

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage youth to participate in the SOR3 initiative.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Assistant Director, SOR3 Youth Recovery Coach, and other essential project staff to create an outreach strategy targeting locations and activities for youth recruitment.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating activities and recreational events for youth.
  • Support the recruitment, training, and mentorship of youth involved in community outreach initiatives.
  • Work alongside project staff to ensure the achievement of goals, objectives, and deliverables set by NYS OASAS/SOR3 administrators for all youth-related activities and services.
  • Help coordinate and facilitate Youth Leadership Training Modules.
  • Represent the SOR3 initiative at community stakeholder meetings as directed.
  • Assist youth in providing Peer Recovery Support Services (PRSS).
  • Act as a liaison with community organizations focused on enhancing Recovery Capital for youth.
  • Deliver presentations to community groups and participate in public hearings and forums regarding issues pertinent to the youth program's goals and objectives.
  • Contribute to project data collection and ensure timely completion of program reports for funders. Maintain data as required and generate reports as requested.
  • Participate in training programs as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of Recovery Services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of Recovery Services.

Qualifications:

  • Personal experience with recovery (minimum of 3 years of sustained recovery) and/or prior involvement with the Criminal Legal System is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in community organizing or related fields is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with peer supervision capabilities.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (word processing, email, internet research, data entry) is required.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred, though relevant work experience may substitute for academic qualifications.

Additional Requirements:

This position requires availability during evenings and weekends as dictated by OASAS and CCA/CORE Centers' guidelines. A valid NYS Driver's License, reliable transportation for participant transport, and appropriate auto insurance coverage are necessary. A rigorous background check is also required, along with the ability to be vetted to work with youth.

  • 12 paid holidays annually
  • 20 days of earned time off (ETO) for full-time staff, available after 90 days of employment.
