Position Overview

This is a full-time, 11-month role focused on enhancing community school initiatives.

ROLE SUMMARY:

This position is pivotal in facilitating the execution, growth, and oversight of community school activities, events, programs, and services aimed at fostering healthy and successful children, empowering families, and nurturing a vibrant community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with educational institutions to advocate for the community school's mission.
  • Establishes and nurtures connections with local organizations and businesses to create expanded learning opportunities, health, and social services that support the community school's objectives.
  • Provides ongoing support for community school partnerships on a daily basis.
  • Plans and leads initiatives to involve students and engage families in the community school approach.
  • Assists in the design and management of volunteer systems within the educational environment.
  • Contributes to data collection and evaluation efforts.
  • Participates in capacity-building activities, including initiative-wide and site-specific training sessions, networking meetings, and study visits.
  • Works in partnership with parent liaisons to enhance family engagement at the school.
  • Collaborates with the Department of Community and Family Engagement and site leadership to ensure effective implementation of the community schools' strategy.
  • Performs additional school-specific duties that address the evolving needs of the assigned school, as agreed upon by the Leadership Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's Degree in social services, education, youth development, public administration, or a related field; Bachelor's Degree in similar areas is preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children, students, and families is essential.
  • Familiarity with community resources is required.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and time management skills are necessary.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data and recognize trends is required.
  • Must demonstrate a positive and youth-friendly demeanor.
  • Significant knowledge of positive youth development, asset development, risk reduction, and protective factors is essential.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have access to a vehicle and telephone, and possess a valid Driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Additionally, must maintain automobile insurance coverage of $100,000 per person, $300,000 per incident for Bodily Injury, and $50,000 per incident for Property Damage.
