Job Title: Community Engagement Specialist at Ibero-American Action League, Inc.

Overview: The Community Engagement Specialist, under the supervision of the Director of Community Interventions, is instrumental in fostering robust community ties and empowering diverse individuals across various age groups. This role emphasizes grassroots participation, relationship building, and the organization of outreach initiatives aimed at enhancing protective factors while mitigating the risks associated with violence. By working closely with local stakeholders and community members, the specialist serves as a crucial conduit for elevating community perspectives, promoting social cohesion, and instigating sustainable transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the Director of Community Intervention or their delegate.
  • Engage with individuals impacted by violence to strengthen protective factors and lower associated risks.
  • Actively participate in community settings, connecting with residents affected by violence.
  • Facilitate access to positive social activities and events in collaboration with state-funded organizations.
  • Assist in the coordination of community forums, events, and activities that address violence and support prosocial objectives.
  • Support ongoing efforts to enhance protective factors and decrease risks related to violence.
  • Contribute to outreach initiatives as directed by the supervisor.
  • Build relationships among youth, families, and community members.
  • Receive training in restorative practices and provide restorative services to the community.
  • Collaborate with the Youth Empowerment Advocate as necessary.
  • Availability for evening and weekend commitments may be required.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the leadership of Ibero-American Action League, Inc.

Authority: This position allows for a significant level of autonomy within the agency's structure. The individual must demonstrate resourcefulness, initiative, and a strong understanding of management systems and interpersonal dynamics. It is essential to keep the immediate supervisor informed of relevant developments.

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Willingness to undertake all assigned responsibilities.
  • Consideration of equivalent training and experience may be accepted.

Physical Requirements: The role may involve occasional standing, squatting, and lifting up to 10 lbs., along with frequent periods of sitting.
