The Impact and Improvement team plays a crucial role in advancing KnowledgeWorks' goals by offering evaluation support, continuous enhancement, and insightful data analysis that guides the field towards personalized learning. We embrace a collaborative research methodology that emphasizes the co-creation and meaningful application of high-quality data, adhering to principles of data equity and valuing the expertise of our team and partners. Our efforts are directed both externally with our collaborators and internally within the organization.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Impact and Improvement, the Research Project Manager is responsible for overseeing project management, data lifecycle management, applied research, and providing support to the team and organization. This role requires independent judgment and discretion in significant matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Direct the planning and execution of research initiatives, ensuring compliance with timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks.
  • Organize, schedule, and lead project meetings, documenting discussions and tracking action items.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Maintain project schedules and milestones using the designated project management tool.
  • Provide regular updates on project status to stakeholders.
  • Oversee research contracts, budgets, and financial documentation.
  • Develop and refine standard operating procedures.

Data Lifecycle Management:

  • Facilitate ongoing data collection related to program resources and activities to assess outputs, outcomes, and impact in alignment with evolving strategies.
  • Organize and manage KnowledgeWorks data repositories, implementing effective data management practices to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure timely data reporting to support both internal and external initiatives, including the preparation of annual and quarterly reports.
  • Create and maintain data visualization dashboards for various stakeholders.
  • Assist in coordinating the data infrastructure project, which aims to establish a comprehensive data system for tracking program delivery and measuring impact, including staff training on system usage.
  • Support the planning and execution of continuous improvement and change management initiatives across organizational and partner projects.

Applied Research:

  • Assist in synthesizing and interpreting both quantitative and qualitative data to generate actionable insights, including conducting literature reviews and drafting research reports.
  • Contribute to grant proposals, ethics applications, and conference presentations.
  • Support partners in understanding and utilizing data effectively.
  • Stay informed about the latest research and trends in K-12 educational innovation.

Team and Organizational Support:

  • Engage in team priorities and processes within the Impact and Improvement team.
  • Collaborate with other KnowledgeWorks teams on research and strategy development.
  • Manage special projects that require timely attention.
  • Participate in committees and meetings as assigned, contributing to team discussions and organizational objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience or equivalent qualifications.
  • Project management certification, such as PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, or PgMP.
  • Proficiency in project management software.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and office productivity software.
  • Background in project management and/or applied research.
  • Strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, and presenting information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies that enhance research and organizational effectiveness.
