The Impact and Improvement team plays a crucial role in this transformation by offering evaluation support, fostering continuous enhancement, and interpreting data to guide the field in personalized learning approaches. Our efforts are directed both externally with collaborators and internally within our organization.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Impact and Improvement, the Research Project Manager is responsible for overseeing project management, data lifecycle administration, applied research, and providing support to the team and organization. This role requires independent judgment and discretion regarding significant matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Oversee the planning and execution of research initiatives, ensuring compliance with timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks.
  • Organize, schedule, and lead project meetings, documenting discussions and tracking follow-up actions.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure that project contributors meet established objectives.
  • Update project timelines and milestones using the designated project management software.
  • Provide regular progress reports on assigned projects to relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage research agreements, financial plans, and billing processes.
  • Develop, refine, and implement standard operating procedures.

Data Lifecycle Management:

  • Assist in the ongoing collection of data related to program resources and activities to assess outputs, outcomes, and overall impact.
  • Organize and maintain the Foundation's data repositories, establishing effective data management practices to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee routine data reporting to support both internal and external initiatives, preparing comprehensive reports as needed.
  • Create and maintain data visualization tools for staff, board members, and partners.
  • Facilitate the data infrastructure project, which aims to develop a comprehensive organizational data system for tracking program delivery and measuring impact, while also training staff on its use.
  • Support the planning and execution of continuous improvement and change management strategies across organizational and partner initiatives.

Applied Research:

  • Assist in synthesizing and interpreting both quantitative and qualitative data to generate actionable insights, including conducting literature reviews and drafting research documentation.
  • Contribute to grant submissions, institutional review board applications, and conference presentations.
  • Support internal and external partners in deriving meaning from data.
  • Stay informed about the latest research, trends, and developments in K-12 educational innovation.

Team and Organizational Support:

  • Contribute to the priorities and processes of the Impact and Improvement team.
  • Engage with other teams within KnowledgeWorks on ongoing research and strategic development.
  • Manage special projects that require timely attention as needed.
  • Participate in various committees and team meetings as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience or equivalent qualifications.
  • Possession of a project management certification, such as PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, or PgMP.
  • Proficiency in project management software.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, qualitative data analysis, or visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, office productivity software, or communication platforms.
  • Background in project management and/or applied research.
  • Strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, and presenting information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks efficiently.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology tools that enhance research and organizational effectiveness.
