Position: Project Management Co-Op

Overview:

The Co-op will collaborate closely with Transition Managers to support the operations and projects of the Transition Group. This role serves as a vital link between sales and operational teams, assessing clients' facility requirements by evaluating their existing equipment, processes, and service providers. The Transition Group is responsible for developing, staffing, and sourcing all essential components of the maintenance program, aimed at minimizing operating costs while enhancing the management and value of facility expenditures. The Co-op will engage in activities that support facilities management and continuous improvement initiatives, working alongside client representatives, sales, procurement, and operations personnel. The role may require travel to support client projects nationwide.

Learning Objectives:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Transition Director with tasks such as:

    • Researching and drafting Preventative Maintenance Specifications
    • Coding Specialized Work Orders
    • Creating Facility Maintenance Work Orders
    • Projecting Labor and Material Costs/Budgeting
    • Documenting Clients' Facility Equipment and Services
    • Generating written or electronic Purchase Orders
    • Managing Electronic Documents and Records
    • Preparing Presentations for Functional and Cross-Functional Teams
  • Participate in training and gain experience in areas such as:
    • Project Management and PMO structures
    • Understanding Business Unit Structures
    • Facility Equipment Operation and Maintenance
    • Identifying Facility Equipment
    • Managing Maintenance Work Orders
    • Project Budgeting techniques
    • Developing and Training Workflow Processes
    • Enhancing Customer Service and Client Communication Skills
    • Understanding Change Order Processes
    • Invoicing and Financial Reporting
    • Data Analysis of Labor, Cost, and Progress Reports
    • Utilizing Project Management software
    • Comprehending Key Performance Indicators and Business Metrics
    • Using Visio Software for Site Mapping and Chart Creation
    • Understanding Safety & OSHA Regulations
    • Leading Cross-Functional Teams
  • Engage in weekly feedback sessions, monthly formal assessments, and a final performance review
  • Compile and present a comprehensive recap slide set at the conclusion of the term to the Senior Transition Team, detailing all learning experiences and insights gained

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or technical trade school, or possess an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural manuals. Proficient in writing specifications, project schedules, and compiling budgets. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to present effectively to groups
  • Intermediate knowledge of computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel. Familiarity with Project, Visio, and JDE CMMS software is advantageous but not mandatory
