Position Summary
Your expertise in gateware, firmware, and low-level C++ programming, along with code management, will be essential in bringing our hardware designs to life, enabling Linux OS functionality and low-level driver operations, ultimately facilitating the transition to flight software. You will also establish standards and practices for code production, verification, and version control, while mentoring junior embedded engineers to uphold the benchmarks you set.
This role is classified internally as Elect Design and Analysis Engr. Our team is actively seeking candidates for a Level 3 position.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, document, test, and operate embedded software, focusing on hardware interfaces, fault tolerance, and ground support applications.
- Create, test, and maintain board support packages (BSP).
- Interpret mission requirements to implement effective Embedded Computer and SDR designs.
- Collaborate with colleagues in a dynamic aerospace environment with minimal oversight.
- Establish software standards and verification methodologies, environments, and code repositories.
- Guide junior engineers to meet established standards and ensure performance aligns with requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant industry experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python, C++, and C within embedded systems.
- Familiarity with hardware description languages (HDLs) including VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog.
- Experienced with version control systems like Git.
- Possess group or project management skills concerning cost, schedule, risk, and expected performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Linux kernel driver development.
- Familiarity with Xilinx Zynq or Ultrascale+ SoC devices.
- Experience with Xilinx design flow and toolchain, including Vivado and PetaLinux (Yocto).
- Knowledge of SDRs utilizing AD9361 or Xilinx RFSoC devices.
- Familiarity with communication standards such as SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO, Ethernet, or SpaceWire.
- Proven track record with two successful, full life-cycle software development projects.
- Proficient in HDL simulators like ModelSim/Questa and Xilinx Simulator (XSIM).
- Experience in group management.
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) to monitor work schedules for yourself and others.
Compensation Overview
The salary range for this position is a general guideline based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Salary Range
- Level 3: $104,550 - $153,750
