Position OverviewAssociates Systems LLC is seeking a seasoned software engineer to contribute to a GPS Receiver development initiative aimed at enhancing the Government's modernization efforts for the GPS User Segment and Airborne GPS Receivers. Key responsibilities encompass:

- Documenting the development process for a next-generation GPS Receiver capable of P(Y)-code, M-code, and C/A-code (YMCA), along with Anti-spoof capabilities.
The Senior Principal Software Engineer role within the SGNS Department involves:
- Planning, executing, and coordinating software design efforts
- Developing software solutions
- Maintaining documentation
- Testing and debugging software that addresses complex business and mission challenges
Our software engineers utilize appropriate standards, processes, and tools throughout the development lifecycle, rectify program errors, prepare operational guidelines, compile documentation of program development, and assess system capabilities to clarify program objectives.
Essential QualificationsA minimum of 10 years of relevant technical experience as an individual contributor in large-scale software engineering projects is required:
- 10+ years of proficiency in C/C++ programming and similar languages
- 10+ years of experience with Green Hills Integrity Real-time Operating Systems, board support packages (BSP), Green Hills Multi IDE, and Wind River VxWorks for C/C++ or equivalent operating systems
- 10+ years of expertise in real-time development and architecture for GPS Receiver software
- Experience in real-time embedded programming, Communications Systems, and Signal Processing
- Professional experience in algorithm and hardware design
- Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio and MATLAB
Additional qualifications include:
- Experience in a matrixed environment collaborating with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
- Familiarity with Configuration Management tools
- Understanding of software development best practices and methodologies
- Proficiency in MS Office or other presentation software
Desirable knowledge includes:
- MIL-STD-1553
- IS-GPS-153 Serial Interface protocol
- Signal selection, acquisition, and tracking
- Position, Velocity, and Time (PVT) calculations
- Data demodulation, signal correction, jamming, and spoofing applications
Understanding of:
- Board Support Package for ARM Processor, Atom Processor, and PPC
- Basic knowledge of FORTRAN, ClearCase, ClearQuest, and DOORS
- Agile lifecycle processes including Scrum, Continuous Integration, Static Code Analysis using Coverity, Unit Testing using VectorCast, and Test Driven Methodologies
- Standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to produce robust, well-documented, production-quality code, adhering to design and coding standards, and implementing effective error handling routines. A proven track record of developing software using industry-standard processes such as Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) Level 3 is essential.
Educational RequirementsA Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is required. A Master's Degree in a similar discipline is highly preferred.
