Position OverviewAssociates Systems LLC is seeking a highly skilled software engineer to contribute to a GPS Receiver development initiative, supporting modernization efforts for the Government's GPS User Segment and Airborne GPS Receivers. Key responsibilities encompass:
- Conducting thorough requirements analysis
- Engaging in software architecture and design
- Implementing coding solutions
- Performing rigorous testing
- Documenting the development process for a next-generation GPS Receiver capable of P(Y)-code, M-code, and C/A-code (YMCA), along with Anti-spoof functionalities.
The role of Senior Principal Software Engineer within the SGNS Department includes:
- Strategizing, executing, and overseeing software design processes
- Developing high-quality software solutions
- Maintaining comprehensive documentation
- Testing and troubleshooting software that addresses complex business and mission challenges
Our software engineers adhere to established standards, processes, and tools throughout the software development lifecycle, rectify program errors, prepare operational guidelines, compile documentation, and assess system capabilities to clarify program objectives.
Essential QualificationsApplicants should possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant technical experience as an individual contributor in large-scale software engineering:
- Extensive experience (10+ years) with C/C++ programming and related languages
- Proficiency (10+ years) in Green Hills Integrity Real-time Operating Systems, board support packages (BSP), Green Hills Multi IDE, and Wind River VxWorks for C/C++ or similar operating systems
- In-depth experience (10+ years) in real-time development and architecture specific to GPS Receiver software
- Expertise in real-time embedded programming, Communications Systems, and Signal Processing
- Hands-on experience in algorithm and hardware design
- Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio and MATLAB
Additional qualifications include:
- Experience working in a matrixed environment with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
- Knowledge of Configuration Management tools
- Understanding of software development best practices and methodologies
- Proficiency in MS Office or other presentation software
Desirable knowledge includes:
- MIL-STD-1553 standards
- IS-GPS-153 Serial Interface protocol
- Expertise in signal selection, acquisition, and tracking
- Competence in Position, Velocity, and Time (PVT) calculations
- Experience in data demodulation, signal correction, jamming, and spoofing applications
Understanding of:
- Board Support Packages for ARM, Atom, and PPC processors
- Basic knowledge of FORTRAN, ClearCase, ClearQuest, and DOORS
- Agile methodologies including Scrum, Continuous Integration, Static Code Analysis with Coverity, Unit Testing with VectorCast, and Test Driven Development
- Standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to produce robust, well-documented, production-quality code that adheres to design and coding standards, including effective error handling routines. A proven track record of developing software using industry-standard processes such as Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) Level 3 is essential.
Educational RequirementsA Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is required. A Master's Degree in a relevant discipline is highly preferred.
