Position Overview:

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cybersecurity Analyst to contribute to our Cyber Operations & Incident Response division. This role involves working on a 9x80 schedule, providing a balanced work-life environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide and mentor junior analysts in crafting technical solutions related to national security, focusing on intrusion detection, system vulnerabilities, and network security.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to assess and enhance the security posture of existing systems and applications.
  • Innovate concepts and methodologies aimed at thwarting network intrusions.
  • Develop scripts and software tools to automate security evaluations and identify system weaknesses.
  • Conduct thorough penetration tests and vulnerability assessments to ensure system integrity.
  • Engage in advanced analysis and reverse engineering of various code types to detect potential threats.
  • Support project management by coordinating with senior technical staff to oversee assignments and evaluate outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs through effective communication and documentation.
  • Assist clients in interpreting research findings and determining subsequent actions.

Qualifications:

  • Level 3: Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 3 years of experience in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Level 4: Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 6 years of experience in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience in conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, particularly in industrial control systems (ICS) and embedded environments.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity scenario development and training for red teams in ICS settings.
  • Proven ability to lead research and development initiatives in cybersecurity for ICS and embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with Linux, Solaris, and Windows operating systems, along with relevant development tools.
  • Understanding of algorithms, decision-making processes, and memory management techniques.
  • Interest in AI algorithms and machine learning concepts.
  • Preferred educational backgrounds include Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, necessitating U.S. citizenship.
