Mental Health Specialist I

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Specialist I to join our team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, trauma-informed care to pediatric patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Care: Provide basic supportive care, including hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and elimination assistance, while maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.
- Data Collection and Reporting: Collect, document, and report vital signs, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, heights, weights, abdominal girth, and oxygen saturation.
- Specimen Collection and Testing: Collect and process specimens for urinalysis, culture, stool studies, sputum culture, and gastric drainage.
- Procedures and Interventions: Assist with physical crisis intervention techniques, physical restraint, and simple dressing changes.
- Environmental and Educational Responsibilities: Maintain a safe and clean environment, assist with unit-specific tasks, and participate in educational activities.
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent; students in related fields can apply after completing half of their undergraduate program.
- Experience: One year of comparable experience in a hospital setting within the past three years.
- Skills: Good written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills; neat appearance, good grooming, and professional manner.
- Certifications: CPR trained (American Heart Association CPR for Family and Friends) course or Health Care Provider course or Red Cross equivalent.
