Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Specialist I to join our team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, trauma-informed care to pediatric patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Care: Provide basic supportive care, including hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and elimination assistance, while maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.
- Data Collection and Reporting: Collect, document, and report vital signs, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, heights, weights, abdominal girth, and oxygen saturation.
- Specimen Collection and Testing: Collect and process specimens for urinalysis, culture, stool studies, sputum culture, gastric drainage, and blood by capillary puncture.
- Procedures and Interventions: Assist with physical crisis intervention techniques, physical restraint, and simple dressing changes, while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Documentation and Communication: Accurately document all data collected and care provided, while maintaining effective communication with the interdisciplinary team.
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent, or students in a related field with relevant coursework.
- Experience: One year of comparable experience in a hospital setting, or completion of a related program.
- Skills: Good written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with a neat appearance and professional manner.
- Certifications: CPR training (American Heart Association or Red Cross equivalent).
