Mental Health Specialist I

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Specialist I to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to children and adolescents with complex behavioral health needs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide supportive care to patients and families, including crisis intervention and assistance with activities of daily living.
- Collect, document, and report data to the RN Care Manager, including vital signs, temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure.
- Assist with physical crisis intervention techniques and physical restraint during specific crisis situations, per NCH policy.
- Participate in unit/program/area quality improvement activities and follow hospital policies and procedures.
- Perform general unit tasks, including answering phone calls, responding to call lights, and assisting with admission/discharge functions.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Students in Bachelors of Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or related field can apply after half of their undergrad program has been completed, or one year of comparable experience in a hospital setting within the past 3 years.
- Good written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Neat appearance, good grooming, and professional manner.
- CPR training (American Heart Association CPR for Family and Friends) course or Health Care Provider course or Red Cross equivalent.
