Job Summary

The VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing mental health support to our Veterans, helping them navigate their recovery journey and achieve their wellness goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide peer support services to Veterans, including one-on-one and group sessions, to help them manage their mental health and achieve their recovery goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each Veteran.
  • Assist Veterans in identifying and accessing community resources and services that support their recovery and wellness.
  • Participate in training and education programs to enhance your knowledge and skills in peer support and mental health recovery.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of program policies and procedures that promote a culture of recovery and wellness.
Requirements
  • Must be a Veteran who has recovered or is recovering from a mental health condition.
  • Must have a full, current, and unrestricted peer specialist certification.
  • Must have at least 1 year of recovery from a mental health condition.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a mental health setting.
  • Knowledge of mental health recovery principles and practices.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and cultures.
