Mental Health Specialist I

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Specialist I to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to children and adolescents with complex mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide basic supportive care, including hygiene, nutrition, and mobility assistance, to patients with varying levels of physical and emotional needs.
- Collect, document, and report vital signs, temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure, as well as heights, weights, and abdominal girth.
- Participate in specialized patient care activities, including crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and physical restraint, under the direction of an RN or LPN.
- Assist with admission and discharge processes, including unit/room orientation and reinforcement of information given to patients.
- Document all data collected and care provided, including patient interactions, observations, and interventions.
- High school graduate or equivalent required; students in related fields may apply after completing half of their undergraduate program.
- Good written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Neat appearance, good grooming, and professional manner.
- CPR training (American Heart Association or Red Cross equivalent) required.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with varying levels of patient acuity. The successful candidate will be able to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in potentially volatile situations, while also demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing patient needs.
