Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead our financial operations at Sunset Senior Living. This pivotal role is crucial for ensuring the financial stability of our organization, facilitating precise and timely financial reporting, and managing all facets of our accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategically plan, develop, and oversee the financial operations of the organization in collaboration with the Administrator.
  • Supervise the accounting department, ensuring adherence to established accounting principles.
  • Establish and uphold financial objectives and policies, along with the necessary documentation.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of financial objectives and policies, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare and present monthly and annual financial statements, budgets, and cash flow analyses to the Administrator.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with department heads to assist in the effective use of financial data.
  • Ensure timely payment of invoices and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Communicate the organization’s accounting policies and procedures to relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings with the governing board as required.
  • Review ledger entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Address any accounting deficiencies identified during inspections and develop corrective action plans.
  • Delegate financial responsibilities as necessary to ensure the completion of all essential functions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of accounting experience in healthcare financial administration is essential.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding the English language.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with personnel, residents, and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledgeable in accounting principles, regulations, and guidelines related to long-term care administration.
  • Capable of planning, organizing, and implementing effective accounting practices.
  • Familiar with relevant laws and regulations governing personnel administration.
  • Possess a positive attitude and enthusiasm when engaging with residents and staff.
  • Open to exploring new methods and principles to enhance existing accounting practices.
  • Skilled in microcomputer applications and data management.
  • Knowledgeable in governmental accounting principles, including budgeting and taxation.
  • Able to review and verify financial documents and reports accurately.
  • Experienced in auditing principles and practices.
  • Capable of training and evaluating subordinate staff effectively.
  • Understanding of banking procedures, cash management, and employee benefit programs.
