POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Financial Aid, the Lead Financial Aid Officer is tasked with the daily management and oversight of the Stafford Loan program, Massachusetts State program, and the Federal Work Study program. This includes the processing of loan applications, conducting entrance and exit counseling for groups and individuals, and reconciling electronic fund transfer rosters, payment records, and paper check receipts.

Responsibilities include awarding Federal Work Study funds, coordinating placements for Federal Work Study students, reconciling payment rosters, and establishing community service placements along with monthly supervision contacts for all placements.

  • Collaborate with Enrollment Services and the Business Office to resolve student issues
  • Participate in outreach activities and recruiting initiatives for prospective students, current students, and parents
  • Troubleshoot processing problems and technical issues related to the COD system and Colleague software
  • Contribute to Business Process Redesign and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiencies and automation within Student Financial Services.
  • Utilize the full potential of the COD system, NSLDS information, Powerfaids, and Jenzabar functionalities
  • Manage electronic communication with the DOE Title IV Wide Area Network, including application downloads and uploads, corrections, and grant data management
  • Process all Federal loans, ensuring compliance with eligibility requirements, reconciliation of award budget dollars, and adherence to regulations and institutional policies
  • Analyze system-generated data to verify compliance and eligibility of students receiving aid
  • Schedule appointments with prospective and current students to provide comprehensive information regarding financial aid and related processes
  • Assist with outreach activities and recruiting initiatives
  • Guide students through administrative processes, providing instructional and technical support as needed
  • Support the manager of the Financial Aid office
  • Participate in mandatory training and coursework related to federal and state regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Educational Experience:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required. A Master's degree in higher education is preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to assist in problem-solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to articulate and represent the mission of a community college

  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Must not be in default on a federal student loan
  • Possess a valid driver's license

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee Financial Aid staff members and work-study students.

TRAVEL:
Travel between the Quincy and Plymouth campuses may be required.
